Rob Recovers!
Rob is recovering from surgery for a subdural hematoma on his brain. His wife Nancy acted quickly and Rob was airlifted to the closest hospital in time for a successful operation. The surgery relieved the pressure on his brain. He said “I thought I was going to have a private recovery room but it didn’t turn out that way. I was averaging about 10 minutes sleep each hour and wanted to get out of there as soon as I could!” He was able to go home ahead of the usual recovery period and is doing very well now.
Rob told me that he has reflected on the pace of his schedule and has decided to slow it down just a bit. He said that he is 64 now and will be pacing himself a little differently in the future. He plans on returning to the tour as soon as Nancy will let him!
He is planning to announce a new GR member that will play bass and sing with the rest of the group, on the occasions when this new pacing should be on the agenda. He said “We had a show in Memphis right after my operation and Sonny Geraci jumped into action with my guys. This is the second time. He also came to the rescue in 2002”. Rob wants to assure all of his fans that he will be continuing to perform and is firmly at the helm of The Grass Roots now and in the future.
He said “I want to thank everyone who sent their messages and support, it means alot to me. I will see all my fans again and I look forward to it with a new perspective”. As I talked to Rob on the phone, he sounded as strong as ever and his humorous ability was in high gear. I was amazed. Brain surgery one week and then talking like it never happened the next! I heard his family and friends going about life and broadcasting a positive vibe in the background between Rob’s words.
We can all look forward to more great things from Mr. Grill.
